On November 19, 2022. ACP hosted the 2022 MetroCon at Plano Event Center. DFWCIA executive committee officers contributed in one session about mobile development in MetroHacks, planned and contributed speeches in the Career Development Forum. Our president Xin Wang and Former president Dr. Logan Song were invited as speakers.
The president of DFWCIA Xin Wang hosted an online seminar “Mobile Development at Hackathons” for many passionate high school students. Xin is a software engineer at Google, she has a lot of Hackathon experience in Google, FedEx, USAA, and Lehigh.First, Xin introduced the advantage of mobile development, it’s easy to demo, easy to mock data, and what you see is what you get. Xin also introduced the technical skill set and development tool for different platforms (Android, IOS, Cross-Platform).Then, Xin did a brief explanation of MVVM architecture, which is the most popular model for mobile development. At last, Xin shared some useful examples and demonstrated how to build a mobile app from the scratch.
We are honored to have Xin Wang and Logan Song as our speakers for Career Development Forum. The first speaker Xin Wang gave the speech “Career Development in IT Field”. First, she clarified what is career development, it can be a title change, pay increase, or getting the job from your dream company, you need to clarify what you want most. Second, she shared herpractical experience about how to get a promotion or get a job offer. At last, Xin explained when is a good time to ask for a promotion or look for a new job.
Our second speaker Dr. Logan Song is an experienced Cloud Expert, he is Chief Cloud Architect & Enterprise Cloud Director in Dito. He shared his valuable 3 stories to demonstrate the importance of gratitude to be a success in his career. He mentioned that leadership is not how to manage your team members, instead, it’s initiative, ownership, going above & beyond, and the ability to help your team to improve together. He also encouraged to help people, the community, and society.
During the Q&A section, the audience was interested in how to prepare well for a future career when you are in college, how to find a mentor, etc. both of our speakers provided professional and practical advice to these questions.
