Terms and Conditions
By participating in 2023 DFW IT Talent Champion Competition(“Event”), you agree to the following terms and conditions:
Eligibility: The event is open to individuals who are 14 years of age or older at the time of entry. Participants must be residents of countries where this event is allowed by law. Each participant must have the ability to make significant contributions to an information technology project.
Entry: To enter the event, participants must register and submit their entry through the official website or the links designated by the Event Committee. Entries must be original and not infringe on any intellectual property rights of others.
Event Guidelines: Participants must adhere to the guidelines and rules of the event as outlined by the Event Committee. Participants must work on the projects during the designated time period and in the designated space or platform. Each team may consist of a maximum of five members. You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as any rules and guidelines set forth by the Event Committee.
Judging Criteria: See the details in “Judging Rules for 2023 DFW IT Talent Champion Competition”.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the winners as determined by the judges. The prize amounts and types will be disclosed on the official event website (www.DFWCIA.org).
Intellectual Property Rights: Participants retain ownership of their intellectual property rights in their entry. All ideas and work accomplished as part of this event are subject to the detailed terms and conditions in “Intellectual Property Rights AGREEMENT for 2023 DFW IT Talent Champion Competition”.
Disqualification: The Event Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant who violates the event rules or the terms and conditions, or engages in any behavior that is deemed inappropriate, fraudulent, or illegal.
Limitation of Liability: The event organizers (DFW Chinese IT Association, Event Committee and Subcommittees, and their staff and helpers) are not liable for any lost, late, incomplete, or misdirected entries or for any technical or human error that may occur in the administration of the event, and are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or liability that may arise as a result of your participation in this event. By participating in this event, you agree to release the organizers from any and all liability, claims, demands, or actions that may arise. The organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the event at any time, for any reason, without liability.
Privacy: Participants agree to the collection and use of their personal information by the event organizers for the purposes of administering the event and promoting the event. Participants’ personal information will not be sold or shared with third parties except as required by law.
Governing Law: This event is governed by the laws of the jurisdiction (Texas, USA) in which the Event is held.
By entering this event, participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. The event organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the contest at any time without notice.
Intellectual Property Rights Agreement
By participating in 2023 DFW IT Talent Champion Competition (“Event”), you agree to the following additional terms and conditions:
The contributors of each application, including but not limited to idea originators, developers, testers, UX designers, product managers and project managers, can be identitified and recognized as the license copyright holders of that application, to the best ability of the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee.
You represent and warrant that any software application (“Software”) that you develop during the Event is your original work, and that you have the right to license the Software under the terms of The MIT License (https://opensource.org/license/mit/).
You hereby grant the event organizers a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, and irrevocable license to use, copy, reproduce, display, merge, publish, distribute, and/or sublicense copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do the same, subject to the following conditions:
a. You must include a copy of a MIT License Agreement, approved by the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee Chair or the event Chair, with every copy of the Software.
b. You must retain copyright and other proprietary notices contained in the Software.
c. You must include a disclaimer of warranty and liability as set forth in the MIT License.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Event organizers, their affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or in connection with any breach of this Agreement or any infringement of intellectual property rights by the Software.
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and the Event organizers with respect to the Software, and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and the Event organizers.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction (Texas, USA) in which the Event is held, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
By signing this Agreement, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement. If you are signing on behalf of a company or organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind such company or organization to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Judging Rules
Judging Panel: The judging panel will consist of experts in the relevant field(s) related to the theme of 2023 DFW IT Talent Champion Competition (“Event”). The panel may include sponsors, and/or judges selected by the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee.
Judging Criteria: Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
– Innovation: The originality and creativity of the idea or solution presented.
– Technical Solution: The level of technical skill and expertise demonstrated in the development and implementation of the idea or solution.
– User Experience: The quality of the user interface and user experience design of the product or solution.
– Potential Impact: The potential social, economic, and/or environmental impact of the idea or solution.
Scoring: Judges will evaluate entries based on the above criteria and assign scores to each entry. The scores may be numerical or qualitative, depending on the judging process selected by the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee.
Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie, judges may review the entries again and discuss among themselves to determine the winner. The judges’ decision will be final and binding.
Confidentiality: Judges agree to keep all entries and related information confidential and not disclose any information to third parties without the permission of the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee Chair or the event Chair.
Impartiality: Judges agree to evaluate entries impartially and without any bias or conflict of interest. If a judge has a conflict of interest or bias related to a particular entry, they must disclose it to the event Judging & Awards Subcommittee and recuse themselves from judging that entry.
Feedback: Judges may provide feedback to participants on their entries and presentations. Feedback should be constructive and helpful in improving the participants’ skills and knowledge.
Communication: Judges may communicate with participants during the event to provide guidance, feedback, or ask/answer questions. However, judges should not provide any assistance that would give an unfair advantage to any participant.
By participating in the event, participants agree to be bound by these judging rules. The event Judging & Awards Subcommittee reserves the right to modify or update these rules at any time without notice.
